About Charlotte
I’m Charlotte Hardie-Watts, a freelance journalist based in Cardiff and the founder of Paillette Magazine, where I write about fashion, beauty, arts and culture, and travel.
My background
I graduated from Cardiff University with a BA in Journalism, Communications and Politics, and I’m now studying for a News Journalism MA at Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture. I spent my formative years in France, which shaped how I see style, culture and identity, and it still influences everything I write.
I was the Editor-in-Chief of Quench Magazine for 2025/26, Cardiff University’s student-led arts and culture magazine. During my time there I won an Outstanding Commitment award for my dedication to the magazine. I also contribute to student media outlets across campus and write for external news platforms as a freelancer.
What I write
On Paillette Magazine I cover fashion weeks and designer news, beauty brands and trends, arts and culture commentary, and travel diaries. I’m especially interested in covering what’s happening in Cardiff: events, openings, exhibitions, gigs and student life.
Work with me
I’m available for freelance commissions, event coverage, reviews and lifestyle features in Cardiff and South Wales. If you’re a PR agency, venue or publication looking for a reliable, meticulous writer who turns copy around quickly, I’d love to hear from you.
